Spinach and onions are growing strong and are on their way in one of Wally’s backyard garden plots. We will be planting a ton more onions this week at one of Wally’s peri-urban garden sites.
We still have many varieties of Heirloom tomato bedding plants available for sale at the farmer’s market: Cherokee Purple, Sicilian Saucer, San Marzano, Amish Paste, and many more.
We also have Scotch Bonnet & Large Cayenne peppers.
This week, we did a ton of cleaning up, bed prepping & planting of two varieties of onions at one of the peri-urban sites.
We also have lots of bedding plants available at the market: several Heirloom tomato varieties, beet greens plants, horseradish, garlic, sugar peas, cat grass (wheat and oat grass mixture) and rhubarb.
Here is Wally watering the newly planted spinach in his backyard garden plot. Today we did a major clean up of another city backyard garden plot as well as some spinach planting. There will be much more planting to come throughout the week…
Also, a pleasant surprise: Wally found some extra rainbow carrots in his cold storage room, so we will have lots at the market tomorrow!

It may still be snowing here in Saskatoon, but planting for the upcoming season has begun. Thanks to Wally’s year-round grow rooms, he is able to start his bedding plants indoors. Tomato bedding plants are now available at the market stand.
This week, when the weather permits, Wally is busy planting beds of onions, garlic and spinach.
There are still lots of live garlic and onion plants available for sale at the market for all your onion-garlic needs in the meantime. You can clip the greens and use them just as you would use chives.
Also available at the market are lots of delicious fingerling potatoes (and some Purple Peruvians, Caribes, Reds and Bintjes too).

This week we have four varieties of potatoes (Fingerlings, Caribes, Purple-fleshed Peruvians and Red), carrots, pea shoots and microgreen salad mixes, live onion and garlic plants and even cat grass. Come down to the Saskatoon Farmer’s Market and stock up on some healthy, local, and chemical-free grub.
Also, Saskatoon’s own Chef Jenni will be sampling a dish made with our fingerling potatoes this Saturday at the market. Make sure to come by and sample some.

May is seeing the production of pea greens galore, and lots of live plants! Live plants include mint, catnip, sunchokes, basil, rhubarb, and other live plants coming on-stream. Green onion will be coming on stream late May. Come down and check out the beautiful quality of our labours!
